HOW DO I GET MY HEALTH BACK ON TRACK AFTER RAMADAN?

We know how difficult it is to look after your health during the month of Ramadan, especially in Australia! We are blessed with fasting shorter days, but the day just flies past so quickly! Between taking the kids to school, going to work, picking up the kids from school and preparing iftar (dinner), how can you factor in time to look after yourself? We know this is the case because many of our staff were fasting too! Through our years of experience in helping our clients get back on track with their health after Ramadan, we find the best time to look after yourself is now…

We Understand How Hard it is to Follow a Diet in Ramadan 🙁

The time to break your fast is approaching, and the dinner table looks like a king is about to be served. The aroma from the kitchen is making you salivate. You try not to look at the dinner table before sunset, but you can’t help to start planning which dish you will begin with. The good angel in you reminds you to follow the prophetic teachings. Have a date, pray, fill a third of your stomach with food, a third for water and a third for air. The Athan ‘ALLAHU AKBAR’ (call to prayer) begins, and your eating strategy is out the window. You can barely move, then here come the sweets!

We’ve all been there before! You would expect that fasting all day will mean you will lose weight during Ramadan. But if you found yourself putting on weight or have a medical condition to manage like diabetes or gastrointestinal disorders, then it’s a good idea to get advice that is catered for you from an expert DIETITIAN who will give you the right information that suits you.

What’s All The Buzz About Hijama / Wet Cupping?

You may have noticed several Olympic athletes covered in bruises, including swimmer Michael Phelps. No, these are not injuries obtained during training but rather the effect of cupping drawing toxins out of the body.

Wet Cupping

Cupping has long existed in many cultures, including China, to stimulate the flow of energy in the body. It was also highly recommended by Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), who received this form of treatment and highly recommended it as a form of preventative medicine. This non-surgical procedure draws out the ‘toxic or bad’ blood allocated at different spots in the body.

It’s important to note that almost all disease begins with inflammation, and Hijama is treating or extracting inflammation from the body. Also, no side effects have been reported when performed correctly.

The medical benefits of this amazing Hijama treatment include:

  • Reduce high blood pressure
  • Help regulate blood sugar levels for Diabetic Patients
  • Remove Uric Acid in your blood system for those with Gout
  • Helps patients with inflammatory digestive diseases such as Irritable Bowel Syndrome
  • Assist with joint and musculoskeletal pain by removing stubborn inflammation from the body
  • Boost fertility
  • Boosts your immune system

We Don’t Recommend Performing Hijama While Fasting – Want to Know Why?

There are mixed opinions from Islamic narrations, where some say that performing Hijama while fasting breaks your fast, while others say it doesn’t. However, at our clinic, hygiene and your safety are our number one concern. We don’t want to risk a patient fainting during treatment, which will break their fast, as we would immediately provide honey and water to hydrate the patient and bring their sugar levels back up. Therefore we avoid performing Hijama during the month of Ramadan. But now that we are out of the month of Ramadan, you are more than welcome to receive this amazing natural therapy.

When Is The Best Time To Perform Hijama?

You can receive Hijama or Wet Cupping Treatment ANYTIME, but if it’s not urgent to receive treatment immediately, then it’s best to follow the Prophetic Guidelines.

Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) suggests that the best time to perform wet cupping is on the 17th, 19th and 21st day of the lunar month. Just as the gravitational pull of the moon affects the tide in the ocean, the moon also affects the flow of our blood!

Now that you know how Hijama works and its benefits, take the next step by calling us on (02) 9793 8840 or BOOK ONLINE to experience this prophetic treatment first hand.

How Much Does It Cost To Have A Hijama/Wet Cupping Treatment?

Hijama treatment costs $85 including the disposable Hijama cups. We generally apply 7-9 cups for women and 9-11 cups for men.

Check out our Hijama FAQ to learn more about Hijama.

Why Am I Feeling Down After Ramadan?

Yes, you may have reduced your exercise levels and over-indulged in food during the month of Ramadan. Your clothes may not fit as they used to, and your number on the scales is a little higher than before. OR Perhaps you’re experiencing a feeling of guilt, thinking, ‘I should’ve done more’ with my own spiritual connection with God, service to my family or community.

For many of us, Ramadan is a month when the family circle and the whole community become closer. We tend to become social butterflies as our daily schedules are filled with family dinners, praying at the mosque, seeing old friends and meeting new ones. The post-Ramadan period can be a big change and a little depressing.

If you enjoyed being involved with family and/or community, then find ways to integrate these experiences into your normal life. Commit to some volunteer work or praying a certain prayer in congregation. Initiate family gatherings where everyone brings a dish or where the focus is not food but a sporting or outdoor activity. Try to combine small acts of worship into your fun activities to keep the Ramadan vibe flowing too. Small acts from making dua together, praying together, or even setting aside some time to share stories and lessons that will spiritually motivate each other.
